Families happy with SEN Reforms
On 27th December the DfE issued a press release stating that parents of children with SEN are happier than ever with the support available and have much more control over the services they are receiving. This is based on the findings from the Pathfinder pilots of over 2,000 families in 31 local authorities.
Around 1,400 families have now received the new Education, Health and Care Plans as part of the Pathfinder programme – this is less than 1% of the current number of pupils with a statement. There is still a great deal to do before September 2014 if we are to ensure that every young person and their family receive the system that puts them at the centre of the services and provision that they need.
New Year Honours
Congratulations to all those who have been honoured for their services to education and working with and caring for children and young people, especially those with special educational needs and disabilities.
